Your data
Privacy, plainly.
Personal tracking comes first. Joining a leaderboard is your choice.

Personal history
Your fold history is stored on your device. iCloud sync uses your private iCloud storage. Records include open and close events, timestamps, timezone information, and installation identifiers so your history can sync without counting an event twice.
Folding derives counts, sessions, and estimated travel from those records. Setup test events are kept separate from your totals. Export files are generated on your device and aren’t uploaded to create a download link.
Optional competition
If you join, Folding processes the Sign in with Apple identity information needed for your account, your display name and avatar, submitted fold events, scores, result history, and competition preferences. Your public profile, approved avatar, scores, and placements are visible to other participants. Private history from before joining isn’t added retroactively.
Installation identifiers, App Attest verification information, and limited security records help protect accounts and investigate abuse. Reports and moderation evidence are available to authorised administrators, not other participants.
Notifications and tips
Notifications start off. Daily reminders are local. If you enable competition results, Folding uses an Apple push notification token and your delivery preferences. You can change your choices in Settings.
Optional tips are processed by Apple. Folding does not receive your payment-card details. A tip unlocks nothing and gives no leaderboard advantage.
Service providers and this website
Apple provides iCloud, sign-in, notifications, and App Store payments. Cloudflare hosts this website and the competition service, including its database and avatar storage. These providers process information needed to operate their services, which may include network and security information.
This website uses no marketing analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party fonts. Folding’s application logs do not contain raw identity tokens, full request bodies, avatar files, or complete exported histories. If you email support, we receive the information you include.
How long information stays
- Personal history: kept on your device and in your private iCloud history until you reset it. Small reset and transfer markers remain so older devices cannot restore cleared history.
- Competition data: retained while you participate, including past results. Reset, leaving competition, or account deletion removes the relevant data and public identity references. Cleanup may remain pending while required jobs retry.
- Avatar originals: removed when moderation finishes or after seven days, whichever comes first. An approved derivative remains while your profile uses it.
- Deletion recovery: a minimal keyed identity/operation mapping remains for 30 days after cleanup, so a lost deletion response can be recovered.
- Moderation: case evidence is kept for 90 days after a case closes. A minimal account-linked restriction record remains while an active ban is in force; permanent bans are reviewed annually. Resetting or deleting an account does not remove an active restriction.
- Temporary exports: removed after sharing or cancellation; abandoned files older than 24 hours are removed on the next cleanup. Reset and account changes also invalidate temporary exports and trigger cleanup. A copy you save elsewhere remains under your control.
Your choices
You can export personal history, reset it, leave competition, or delete your competition account. Deleting that account is separate from resetting private history. Choose what to remove. Copies of shared images saved by someone else cannot be recalled.
For privacy, access, correction, or deletion requests, email support@getfolding.app. We may need to verify account ownership before acting. Never send an Apple password or verification code.
